Curtiss P 40

Tony has always been a fan of the P40 and over the years he has built several smaller models of this aircraft.

An opportunity arose to acquire a very rare Yellow Aircraft kit of the P40 which had been part started. The quality of the work which had been done was of a good standard and Tony felt that it was an ideal chance to complete another version of this model. It also fits in nicely with the Mosquito and Spitfire models flown by other team members.

There are not many pictures of the build as most of the work was done when Tony acquired the model but alongside are some of the painting process.

The model is 1/5th scale, 86 inch span so it fits nicely alongside the other 1/5th scale warbirds in the team.

Main retracts are from yellow aircraft , the tail retract is from CentryJet retracts in the USA, power comes from a DLE 55cc engine. The pilot from Real model pilots and the dash and cockpit details from Dynamic Balsa in the USA.

It is painted in the scheme of Sneak Attack from the Warhawk museum in Nampa Idaho USA. Hopefully the model will be finished by spring 2023.
