ASW 17

This scale model of the ASW 17 is 5 metres in wingspan. Construction is fibreglass for the fuselage and white foam covered with obechi veneer for the wings and tail. The model has flying controls exactly the same as the full size and includes full span flaps, retracting undercarriage and an aero tow release in the nose. A fully detailed cockpit is installed complete with pilot.The model is launched by aero towing behind a suitable tug aircraft, the teams Super Greenly often being used for this purpose. The model is very efficient and will respond to the lightest thermals. The longest flight recorded to date is over one hour and this flight was only terminated due to concerns over the state of the on board batteries as the model had already been flown several times during the day.
